Tundra Plants
Adapted plants: The Tundra biome consist of little plant life. Low shrubs, sedges, reindeer mosses, calliergon giganteum, and grasses are plants found in Tundra. Almost all of the plants in the Tundra biome adapted the same way. They adapted to winds, strong winds that were 100 miles per hour and other disturbances. Due to cloudiness the plants get little sunlight affecting their photosynthesis process.
Calliergon Giganteum: In the Tundra the calliergon giganteum is considered an aquatic plant. These plants are found at the bottom of tundra lake beds. This plant is like a moss but without any roots, instead of roots they have rhizoids (tiny rootlets). The calliergon giganteum has adapted to the extremely cold climates. The more leaves that this plant has the more they can photosynthesize. Since this plant grows near ground it has adapted to extremely strong winds. This aquatic plant grows in water allowing it protection from any winds and colds. This plant is known for having long life.
